My Voice, My Choice has just been awarded the 2026 Vigdís Prize for Women’s Empowerment by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and the Government of Iceland. This prestigious €60,000 annual prize honours outstanding initiatives promoting the empowerment of women in all their diversity.
The movement was recognised for gathering over 1.1 million signatures for the European Citizens’ Initiative on access to safe abortion, which led to a landmark European Parliament resolution and a commitment from the European Commission to use EU funds for abortion services.
Named after Vigdís Finnbogadóttir — the first woman ever elected as a head of state — this prize is a powerful recognition of the impact this grassroots movement has had across Europe. Congratulations to all the organisations and supporters who made this possible!
