(localisation of CEDAW)

The United Nations Working Group on Discrimination Against Women and Girls (WGDAWG) came to UN Headquarters from Geneva, Switzerland to meet with UN Secretary General Guterres recently and pressed for closer cooperation, especially with its work on peacebuilding and economic status of women.

During its time in NYC the Working Group invited local NGOs to attend a consultation session. I was pleased to attend the session on behalf of the IAW and give a summary of the campaign to localize CEDAW throughout the US.

The chair of the Working Group asked for additional information and after reviewing the following submission, advised me that it will consider identifying the localizing CEDAW campaign as a best practice in its upcoming reports.
