Sizani Ngubane, founder of Rural Women’s Movement of South Africa, member of IAW, is the 2018 Woman of Distinction Awardee, an award given by the NGO CSW/ NY Committee.Sizani was nominated by IAW.
Ngubane will be the keynote speaker for the NGO CSW62 Forum Consultation Day

Although not stated in the call for action, capacity building has to target women specifically, to address the structural, legal, management, and cultural barriers that prevent women from full access to fisheries and resources.
Despite strong instruments and analyses, we do not see change on the ground. What is really needed is a political will to accelerate implementation, change mentalities and ensure women’s and girls’ rights.
Parties adopted the Gender Action Plan (GAP) to advance gender mainstreaming into all elements of climate action and to support the implementation of gender-related decisions and mandates in the UNFCCC process.
