IAW will work for participatory monitoring and the implementation of accountability mechanisms. Accountability is about empowering people, in particular women, in order to enable them to articulate their priorities while taking more control over their lives.

Mary Robinson at the People’s Climate March September 21: “This is my book. This is the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Climate change is all about human rights and unfortunately it is making a lot of human rights worse.”
The statement links the Beijing Platform for Action to the Agreed Conclusions of of CSW 58 and CEDAW and asks “have these international agreements become a reality?” Eight recommendations give much food for thought and action. The statement is submitted in collaboration with Medical Women’s International Association
