Mary Robinson at the People’s Climate March September 21: “This is my book. This is the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Climate change is all about human rights and unfortunately it is making a lot of human rights worse.”
The statement links the Beijing Platform for Action to the Agreed Conclusions of of CSW 58 and CEDAW and asks “have these international agreements become a reality?” Eight recommendations give much food for thought and action. The statement is submitted in collaboration with Medical Women’s International Association

In days, when the UN holds an emergency summit on climate change, we need to deliver the largest petition ever for a world powered by 100% clean energy. The petition number will be read out to every world leader at the summit!
On September 21st, we call on women’s human rights organizations, activists and allies to march with us for climate justice.
CEDAW Committee among other things emphasizes ” the urgent need to revive the peace process with the inclusion and the effective participation of women from both States Parties concerned, in line with Security Council resolution 1325 (2000) and subsequent relevant resolutions of the Security Council on Women, Peace and Security”
IAW is of the opinion that a Social Protection Floor as recommended by the International Labour Organization should be introduced by all states
Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon recommends that NOG’s are given better opportunities to contribute to the work of CSW
At the UN ECE NGO Forum, IAW proposes a discussion on why gender responsive budgeting has proved to be a success in some countries and local communities
